THE POWER OF LOVE

SELF-LOVE IS NOT LOVE

The reason why we should have a clear understanding of Love is because the nature of our love determines everything else about our being and  life. Our will is who we are and our will is what we love the most. And what we love determines what we believe to be true. We simply use our beliefs to justify what we love. The life of man is his love. And, if his love is corrupt then his life is corrupt.

Now, man is born into all kinds of self-love. Many people believe that there is nothing wrong in loving yourself above all others. The Truth is that this self-love is the cause of all our misery.

The Truth also is that it is impossible to love yourself. If it were possible, God would not need to create the universe and other beings. Self-love is not love; it is egotism or selfishness.

Many people also believe that because they love and defend their family that they are loving beings. This is not true. We can observe this kind of behavior in the most fierce and cruel animals as well as in most criminals. This type of so-called love is simply an extension of self-love. The only reason we love and defend our family is because it is an extension of our self. It is a form of self-love.

When Jesus was asked, what should I do to have eternal life, he answered:" Love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself."

Now, the reason why Jesus said this is because he understood the power of true or spiritual love. It is not easy to turn away from self-love and to begin to love God and our neighbor more than our self. This is how we begin to transform our self from a natural being into a spiritual being.

When we are in love of God and love of neighbor, our life is founded on real principles. Then what we believe is true and Divine Love and Truth begin to flow into our being.

PERSONAL ATTACHMENT

The most powerful energy in the universe is Divine Love.

But most human beings do not know what Real Love is. Human love is more like personal attachment. For example, human beings are attached to their lover or family and they call that "love." But it is not Real Love.

Human love or personal attachment is polar in nature; it can readily turn into hate. We can see evidence of this in the frequency of divorce. Those who once loved each other, now become hateful enemies.  

The personal ego consists of attachments and aversions or likes and dislikes. This is essentially what it is made of. So, we literally think we are our beliefs, likes and dislikes. This is another illusion.

This is why most human beings spend most of their time and energy defending their beliefs, opinions, likes and dislikes and attacking others. The ego is a false identity that originates in our suppressed past beliefs and unconscious programs. We are prisoners of our past. 

LOVE IS FREEDOM

Our true being or identity is in fact Real Love and pure Awareness. Real, Divine or Unconditional  Love is freedom itself. God loves All because it is All. 

How can we return to Real Love?

If we became prisoners by having particular or personal likes and dislikes, then the only way to become free is by releasing or letting go of our personal opinions, beliefs, likes and dislikes.

Yes, that means we will have to love our neighbor's child as much as our own child. This is the All-encompassing love of God. We will have to love our neighbor as our self . And we will have to love the sinner as much as the saint. It will take forgiveness and courage to be free again.

To be One with God, we must be like God. That means we have no personal attachments or aversions. We do not judge anything or anyone as good or bad. Everything and everyone is an expression of Being. It is just Being what it is at this point in time and space. There is no reason to project our own judgments on what we witness. We do not resist anything or anyone and we accept everything as it is. We let everything and everyone have the freedom to Be. By allowing others to be free, we become free ourselves.

If we are able to do this, we will have the power of Real Love at our disposal. And Real Love is absolute power. It creates all that is harmonious and dissolves all that is discordant.
