FEAR AND WANT
THE HUMAN PREDICAMENT We know that human existence tends to be very problematic. But where do all human problems come from? If you read the beginning of the Bible, you will understand why. Human souls used to be united to the Oneness of God [consciousness] and they had no problems. They were living in Universal Light in the Garden of Eden (a state of joy, love and self-sufficiency). But they had no individuality. In order to create an individuality, they had to separate from this Oneness and descend into matter or the world of apparent separation. The analogy of this journey of the soul is childhood [innocence], maturity [self-intelligence], old age [wisdom, heavenly intelligence and return to innocence]. It is self-intelligence, selfishness and self-righteousness which is the cause of our suffering. This happens because we have forgotten that we are still connected to our source [Love and Truth]. The knowledge of good and evil is the knowledge of apparent separation. It is called apparent because when we use our physical senses, it seems as though beings are separate. But this is an illusion or a lie. In Truth everything is still One in God. So, in fact, human consciousness descended into the state of Truth and falsehood. If we judge by appearances, we are believing in lies, falsehood and darkness. Now, when you start to believe in the lie of physical appearances, you are in a state of fear and want. This is because you falsely believe that your identity is your physical body and that you are separate from God, Consciousness, Oneness or the All. You think you are all alone against the world. But this is an illusion, a dream and a lie. In fact, the world, which you falsely believe is your enemy, is part of your consciousness and it is the projection of your loves and beliefs. YOU ATTRACT WHAT YOU FEAR AND YOU REPEL WHAT YOU WANT When you identify with your body and personal beliefs, you are in a state of fear and want. And since consciousness is the cause of all manifestations, you attract what you fear and you repel what you want. So to be a human being is a fairly hopeless predicament. But when you understand the Truth, the Truth sets you free. You know what to do and what not to do. So the more you fear disease and poverty, the more you attract and manifest them. And the more you want health and wealth, the more you repel them. This is the human predicament. You attract what you fear because you manifest what you think and worry about. You repel what you want because when you are in a state of want, you can only manifest lack. But now at least we know where the real problem is hidden. It is certainly not because God does not wish to give us health and prosperity. It is because we have created a false identity and we have separated from the Oneness, the Spiritual Substance of God. RELEASING FEAR AND WANT If we are simply attracting what we don't want through fear and repelling what we want through WANT, then we know what to do to reverse the situation. We must simply release or let go of fear and want. We must leave the state of fear and want and enter the state of Love, Awareness, Being and self-sufficiency. How do we do it? In order to release fear, we must surrender to God, Oneness, Love or All. We must realize that our true identity is All. And consciousness [I AM] is the source of all manifestation. We must trust in the power of Infinite Intelligence and let God direct our life. When we release want, we realize that our being is spiritual substance. And spiritual substance can manifest as whatever we need. The conscious state of Love, Joy and usefulness manifests as a prosperous and healthy life. "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want...." "The basic mechanism of desire is, first, we create a lack and then desire whatever is necessary to fill that lack. The desire creates thoughts. The thoughts cover the Self [I AM] and this makes us unhappy. Then we look to relieve that unhappiness by fulfilling the desire which momentarily stills the thoughts. The stilling of thoughts removes a bit of the cover of the Self [I AM] and it’s the feeling of a bit more of the Self [I AM] that we call pleasure. We wrongly attribute that joy or pleasure to the thing or person that was used to fulfill the desire to relieve the agony of the thoughts of desire that were covering the Self [I AM]. Because of this wrong attributing of the joy to the person or thing, the desire will never be satiated because the joy is not in the person or thing. The only possibility of satiety is to remain in your Self [I AM]!" Lester Levenson
